Allan E.Wulc, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Wulc is a Board Certified surgeon with specialized training in both ophthalmology and cosmetic surgery. He is one of only 350 surgeons in the world to have advanced certification by the American Society of Ophthalmic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is the only surgeon in Pennsylvania to have won the prestigious Marvin Quickert Award from this Society for excellence in research.

Dr. Wulc was born and raised in the Philadelphia area, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Amherst College. Parts of his undergraduate studies were spent in Paris where he studied painting and sculpture at the Ecole de Beaux Arts and literature at the Sorbonne.

Dr. Wulc received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and trained in Ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1984, he was awarded a fellowship in Cosmetic and Eye and Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Arizona. In 1996, he completed a year-long fellowship in supersubspecialized training in plastic surgery of the orbit (facial skeleton) at the University of London, Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Following this, Dr. Wulc spent ten years in academics at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was appointed director of the Plastic and Orbital Service of the Scheie Eye Institute and the University of Pennsylvania in 1989. In 1995, he was promoted to Associate Professor and taught, performed research and established a practice limited to plastic surgery. He also went on to complete a cosmetic fellowship at the Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre in Melbourne, Florida in 1997.

Dr. Wulc has authored over 40 papers in his specialty and has written many chapters in authoritative texts on plastic surgery. He is one of the original researchers involved in the FDA study of Botox and was one of the first to publish a study on its use for cosmetic purposes. He lectures locally, nationally and internationally on topics such as liposuction, facelift, Botox, eyelid surgery and facial aesthetics. He is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Facial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Liposuction and the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Wulc is on the teaching faculty at Wills Eye Hospital, Scheie Eye Institute, and Hahnemann Hospital and has trained residents and fellows internationally. He is actively involved in research in Plastic Surgery and has several patents for small incision face-lifting devices and techniques.
